Laura was born on August 31st, 1904.  Laura's father was John Burke and her mother was Fanny Ella Ferguson.  Her paternal grandparents were John Patrick Burke and Mary Ann Ingram; her maternal grandparents were Levy Ferguson and Jane Foster. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Jesse, Almer, John, Burr, Rachel, Mary and Ada.  She was the youngest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 65 in 1969.  Her burial was in Evergreen Mausoleum, Louisville, Kentucky.1 1 

Laura's first family with James Houghland

Laura and James were married on February 20th, 1941 in Carrollton, Kentucky.2   They had a daughter.


Laura's second family with Nathaniel  (Nat) Childers

Laura and Nat were married.  They had a son and four daughters, named Donald, Agnes, Natalie, <Unknown> and <Unknown>.
