William M. was born in May 1837 in Van Buren Co, TN.  William M.'s father was Zachariah Thomas Simmons and his mother was Mary Louisa Dodson.  His paternal grandparents were James Simmons and Stacy Ann Roberts. He had three brothers and three sisters, named James, Drury, Simon Dillard, Martha Ann, Stacy E. and Elizabeth.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died  due to Choked on an apple at the age of 77 in 1914 in Greenville, Hunt Co, TX.
