Samuel 'Sam' Walter was born on October 8th, 1880 in Cumberland Co, TN.  Samuel 'Sam' Walter's father was Drury Simmons and his mother was Emma Seales.  His paternal grandparents were Zachariah Thomas Simmons and Mary Louisa Dodson. He had three brothers and five sisters, named James Tollaver, Carroll 'Carl', Andrew Harrison, Sarah 'Betty' Elizabeth, Mary 'Molly' Louise, Martha 'Mattie' Emaline, Nancy H. and Alta Florence.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 74 in 1954.  He was buried in Thomas Springs Cemetery, Cumberland, Stewart Co, TN.
