Adelaide was born about 0950 in Soissons, Aisneons, Picardy, France.1   Adelaide's father was Duke of Lorraine Gislebert de Hainault and her mother was Gerberga of Saxony.  Her paternal grandparents were Count Regnier de Hainault II and Adelaide of Autun; her maternal grandparents were Holy Roman Emperor Henry (The Fowler) of Germany I and Saint Matilda Of Ringleheim. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Henri, Ludwig, Alberade, Gerberga and Wiltrudede.  She was the youngest of the six children. She had five half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Lothaire, Charles, Carloman, Louis, Henri, Matilda, Hildegarde, Raingarde and Alberade.  She died on March 31st, 1047.1
