Thomas was born about 1132 in Caus Castle, Wattlesborough, Shropshire, England.1   Thomas' father was 3rd Lord of Caus & Wattlesborough Simon Corbet and his mother was <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents were 2nd Lord of Caus & Wattlesborough William Corbet and <Unknown>. He had seven brothers named William, Walter, Robert, Rowley, Richard, Hugh and Roger.  He was the oldest of the eight children.  He died in Pontsbury, Shropshire, England.1
