Nicholas was born in 1339 in Thurston, Suffolk, England.¹

His paternal grandparents were Henry Drury and Havise (Hawise) De Greene (De La Grene); his maternal grandparents were Thomas Newton and <Unknown>. He had two brothers named Henry and Roger. He died at the age of 54 in January 1393 in Rougham, Norfolk, England.
