Robert was born in 1150 in Horningsheath, Suffolk, England.¹

Robert's father was Sir Richard Druri and his mother was <Unknown>. His paternal grandparents were Drogo (Drogonis, Drieu) Druri and <Unknown>. He had four brothers named Humphry, Geoffrey, William and Walter. He died at the age of 53 in 1203.¹
