Joel Dowell

Joel was born in 1805 in Bedford Co., Virginia.¹ Joel's father was Elijah Dowell and his mother was Jemima Board. His paternal grandparents were George Dowell and Margaret Ferguson. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Nehemiah, George, James, John, Elijah, Harrison, Dandridge, Elizabeth, Nancy, Jincey and Polly. He was the nineth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 75 in 1880.¹
