George Dowell

George was born on November 24th, 1788 in Bedford Co., Virginia.¹ George's father was Elijah Dowell and his mother was Jemima Board. His paternal grandparents were George Dowell and Margaret Ferguson. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Nehemiah, James, John, Elijah, Joel, Harrison, Dandridge, Elizabeth, Nancy, Jincey and Polly. He was the second oldest of the twelve children.
