The California Sentinel reported Friday, June 2, 1944:
"Technical John W. Hammond, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hammond,California, PA, enlisted in the Army Tank Corps, April 7, 1941, and atpresent is stationed in England. He took his basic training at FortGeorge G. Meade, MD., and went overseas in January, 1944."

John was a veteran of WWII, European Theatre, Armored Division.
