Isabel A. was born on July 20th, 1813 in Feeding Hills, Hampden Co. MA.1 Isabel A.'s father was Joel Dewey and her mother was Isabella Griswold. Her paternal grandparents were Josiah Dewey and Huldah Frost; her maternal grandparents were Sylvanus Griswold and Elizabeth Marvin. She had four brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Joel, Sylvanus G., Henry Rice, Sylvanus Dorr, Mary McIntire, Harriet Rice and Eliza Marvin. She was the fourth youngest of the eight children. She had a half-brother named Melville.1 -
