In the Name of God Amen. JOHN COOPER, of the County of Nash and State of North Carolina being weak in body, but of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following.

Imprims: I give and bequeath to my wife PENELOPE one feather bed and furniture, one horse called Roger, one side saddle and bridle and one chest to her heirs and assigns. I also lend my negro JUDE to my wife for the term of six years after my decease and the expiration of that time or if my wife should die before, I give the said negro JUDE and all her increase to my daughter MARY COOPER to her, her heirs and assigns forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son CANNAN COOPER, one feather bed and furniture, one dish, two plates, one bason, three sheep to him his heirs and assigns forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son REUBEN COOPER, one hundred acres of land be it more or less on the East side of the Haw branch bounded by a line of marked trees from GRIFFIN line to JOHN HUNTS line to hime his heirs and assigns forever.

Item: I give to my daughter SARAH DEEN, five shillings and no more.

Item: I give to my son EDWARD COOPER, five shillings and no more.

Item: I give to my son WILLIAM COOPER, five shillings and no more.

Item: I give to my son JAMES COOPER, five shillings and no more.

Item: I give to my daughter AMY COOPER, give shillings and no more.

Item: I lend the use and profit of my plantation and all my land which I have not given to my sons CANNON and REUBEN to my said wife PENELOPE during her natural life and at her death I give and bequeath the same to my sons JOHN and JOEL COOPER to them theirs heirs and assigns forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son JOHN COOPER, one sorrel colt, to him and his heirs and assigns forever.

Item: I give to my daughter MOURNING COOPER, one bed and furniture, one chest, one desk and one bason to her and her heirs and assigns forever.

Item: I give to my son JOEL COOPER, one sorrel year old colt to him his heirs and assigns forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son MARK COOPER, one still ? and cap to him his heirs and assigns forever.

Item: I give to my daughter PENELOPE COOPER, one feather bed and furniture to her heirs and assigns forever.

Item: I lend all the rest and residue of my estate to my wife PENELOPE during her widowhood and at her death or marriage, I give the same to four of my children namely, JOHN, JOEL, PENELOPE and MARK to be equally divided among them to their heirs and assigns forever.

I do constitute and appoint my wife PENELOPE, my sons EDWARD, REUBEN and CANNON executors to this my last will and testament. In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th day of December 1784.
