Karl Alexander von Hessen-Wanfried 
Karl Alexander was born in 1683. Karl Alexander's father was Karl von Hessen-Wanfried and his mother was Alexandriene Juliane von Leiningen-Dagsburg. His paternal grandparents were Ernst von Hessen-Rheinfels-Rothenburg and Maria Eleonor von Solms-Lich. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Ernst, Christian, Marie Eleonore, Charlotte Amalie, Sofie Leopoldiene, Marie Anna, Luise and Bernhardiene. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He had four half-brothers named Karl Ernst, Wilhelm, Friedrich and Phillip. He died at the age of 1 in 1684.
