Frederick Carl Christian Monroe was born in 1830 in Santa Cruz Island (St. Croix), West Indies.1 Frederick Carl Christian Monroe's father was Arthur Potter and his mother was Margaret White. His maternal grandparents were White and Hartshorn. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Barnet Whatlington, Arthur, Charles Wilhelm, Anne Eliza, Margaret, Mary Elizabeth "Tito", Sara Whatlington "Sal", Louisa, Alice Jane Tatum and Mary Etholinda "Ethie". He was the second youngest of the eleven children.1 -
