Lucy Lucinda was born in 1878. Lucy Lucinda's father was Abraham P. Yost and her mother was Saphronia J. Sargent. Her maternal grandparents were Sylvester Sargent and Sarah Jane Westfall. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named William Henry, Charles Edward, Bertram, Solomon Newton, Elizabeth Ellen, Martha Jane, Melinda Ann, Margaret M., Anna Clara, Ada Florence and Margaret Ann. She is the fourth youngest of the twelve children.-
