Charlotte B. was born in 1919 in Willow, Cherokee County, Iowa. Charlotte B.'s father was Eugene Sargent and her mother was Jessie May Huston. Her paternal grandparents were Timothy Sargent and Delinda Fox. She had nine brothers and five sisters, named Floyd Elmer, Lester Louis, Walter Clare, Chester Brewer, Ralph E., Timothy Benjamin, Charles Franklin, Jacob Roger, Albert Ronald, Mary Ann, Hazel Blanche, Zerma Mae, Infant and Mabel B..
