Alfred was born on November 30th, 1815 in Brunswick, Maine. Alfred's father was John Sargent and his mother was Rebecca Eaton. His paternal grandparents were Elias Sargent and Sarah Sumbry. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Sylvester, James E., Joseph C., George W., Emily H., Angeline and Lydia O.. He is the third oldest of the eight children.-
