Ralph Ernest was born on January 20th, 1892 in Boscawen, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. Ralph Ernest's father was James Edwin Colby and his mother was Nellie I. Sweatland. His paternal grandfather was James Colby and his paternal grandmother is Sylvania Hammond Woodbury. He had three brothers named Everett C., George E. and Howard E.. He was the oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 57 on December 1st, 1949 in Boscawen, New Hampshire.-
