Alred E. was born on September 30th, 1839 in Goffstown, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. Alred E.'s father was Thomas B. Colby and his mother was Mary B. Kelly. His paternal grandfather was Samuel Colby and his paternal grandmother is Sarah Partridge. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Francis O., Lewis R., Henry Sherburn, Mary E. and Sarah E.B.. He was the third oldest of the six children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Henry, Alfred E. and Sarah E. B.. He died at the age of 4 on July 22nd, 1844 in Goffstown, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.-
