Gronwy was born in 1195 in Trecastell, Llangoed, Anglesey, Wales. Gronwy's father was Ednyfed Fychan Ap Kendrig and his mother was Gwenllian Verch Rhys. His maternal grandfather was Rhys Ap Gruffydd. He was an only child. He died at the age of 73 in 1268 in North, Wales.-
