Emma was born about 1020 in Conteville, France.  Emma's father was Herluin de Conteville and her mother was Herleve of Falasia.  Her paternal grandparents were John De Bourg De Tonsburgh and Dame de Meullent; her maternal grandparents were Fulbert "The Tanner" De Falaise and Duxia (Doda). She had two brothers and a sister, named Robert of, Odo of and Muriel. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named William I of, Adeliza and Adeliza of.


Emma's family with Richard Le Goz

‌Emma and Richard were married in a religious ceremony about 1045 in Avranches, Normandy, France.  They had two sons and nine daughters, named Hugh, Arnold, Judith (Le Goz), Helissende, Maud or Matilda, Isabel Lupus, Beatrice Goz, Nesta, Albreda, Maud and Isabel.
