Gilbert I "The Red Earl" was born on September 2nd, 1243 in Christ Church, Hampshire, England.  Gilbert I "The Red Earl"'s father was Richard De Clare and his mother was Amicia Muellent.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 52 on December 7th, 1295 in Monmouth Castle, Monmouthshire, England.
