Francis Tanfield Esquire 
Francis was born about 1510 in Gayton,Northamptonshire,England. Francis' father was William Tanfield Esquire and his mother is Isabel Stavely. His paternal grandparents were Robert Tanfield III, Esquire and Catherine *Neville; his maternal grandparents are William *Stavely and Alice *Francis. He had three brothers and five sisters, named William, Humphrey, Robert, Catherine, Elizabeth, Margaret, Ursula and Agnes. He had a half-brother named Francis. FRANCIS TANFIELD, of Gayton, Northants., Born c. 1508. "Aged 17", 1525/6. M Bridget, d. of Richard Cave, of Stanford, Northants., & his wife Margaret, d. of Sir Thomas Saxby, Kt. (See CAVE). He built Gayton Manor House, 1540. Will dated 12 Jan. 1547/8 (in which he refers to his late father "William Tanfield" & his mother "Isabel Humphrey"). Died 21 Nov. 1558. Will Proved at P.C.C., 1558.
