Rotrud was born about 0800. Rotrud's father was King of Franks, Holy Roman Emperor Louis (The Pious, le Debonaire) I and her mother was Irmengard d'Haysbe. Her paternal grandparents were Carolingian King of Franks, Holy Roman Emperor Charles(Charlemagne) Martel and Hildegarde; her maternal grandparents are Ingram and Landree de Herbauges. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Lothair, Pepin, The German, Matilda(Hildegard) and Adelaide d'Aquitaine. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named The Bald, Gisela and Adelaide de Tours.-
