Charles, known as The Bald, was born in Frankfort-am-Main,Hessen-Nassau,Prussia.1   The Bald's father was King of Franks, Holy Roman Emperor Louis (The Pious, le Debonaire) I and his mother was Judith von Andech (The Fair).  His paternal grandparents were Carolingian King of Franks, Holy Roman Emperor Charles(Charlemagne) Martel and Hildegarde; his maternal grandparents were Guelf von Altdorf III and Heilwig(Edith) von Sachsen. He had two sisters named Gisela and Adelaide de Tours. He had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Lothair, Pepin, The German, Rotrud, Matilda(Hildegard) and Adelaide d'Aquitaine.  He died in Modano,France (Modena,Italy).  He was buried in October 0877 in St Denis,Paris,Seine,France.1 1 


The Bald's first family with Richildis

‌The Bald and Richildis were married in a religious ceremony in Aachen,North Rhine-Westphalia,Germany.  They had a daughter named Rothilde.

They had a son and a daughter, named Le Begue and Judith.
