Louis, known as Le Jeune, was born in Alsace-Lorraine,Austrasia.  Le Jeune's father was King of Italy, Holy Roman Emperor Lothair I and his mother was Ermengard.  His paternal grandparents were King of Franks, Holy Roman Emperor Louis (The Pious, le Debonaire) I and Irmengard d'Haysbe; his maternal grandparents were Comte d'Alsace, Orleans, et Tours Hughes II and Comtess de Tours Ava(Bava). He had two brothers and four sisters, named Lothair, Le Gros (The Fat), Helentrude, Ermengard, Rotrude and Gisle Lothair.  He died in Brescia,Lombardy,Italy.  He was buried in St Ambrose,Milan,Italy.


Le Jeune's family with Empress Engelberga

‌Le Jeune and Engelberga were married in a religious ceremony.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Louis, Charles and Irmengarde.
