Gruffydd ap Llewelyn was born in 1011 in Rhuddlan,Flintshire,Wales.  Gruffydd ap Llewelyn's father was King of Deheubarth Llewelyn ap Seisyllt and his mother is Queen of Powys Angharad verch Maredydd.  His paternal grandparents are Seisyllt ap Ednowain and Trawst verch Eliseg; his maternal grandfather was Prince of Deheubarth, King of Powys Maredydd ap Owain. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Bleddyn ap Cynfyn, Rhywallon ap Cynfyn and Iwerydd verch Cynfyn.  He died  due to put to death by Harold the Dane; and his cousins, Bleddyn and Rhywallen gained the crowns of North and South Wales at the age of 52 on August 5th, 1063.


Gruffydd ap Llewelyn's family with Ealdgyth(Aglithia) (Swan Neck)

‌Gruffydd ap Llewelyn and Swan Neck were married in a religious ceremony in 1058.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Ithel ap Gruffydd, Maredydd ap Gruffydd and Nesta verch Gruffydd.
