Egelina was born about 1155 in of Colston, Nottinghamshire, England. Egelina's father was Renaud (Reginald) Seigneur de Courtenay and her mother was Hawise de Curcy. Her paternal grandparents were Renaud (Reginald) Seigneur de Courtenay and Hawise de Donjon; her maternal grandparents are William de Curcy and Maud de Avranches. She had three brothers named Robert, Reginald and Henry. She was the oldest of the four children. She died about 1214.General Notes
