Marit was born in 1762 in Bonesvold,Storen,Sor-Trondelog , Norway. Marit's father was Erik Olsen and her mother is Gjertru Olsdatter. Her paternal grandfather was Ole Eriksen and her paternal grandmother is Marit Jonsdatter; her maternal grandparents are Ole UNKNOWN and Ingeborg UNKNOWN. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Ole, Jon, Iver, Arnt, Ingeborg, Berit and Kari. She was the third oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 66 in 1828 in Solem, Storen, Sor-Trondelog, Norway.General Notes
