Sarah was born on December 6th, 1798 in Heathfield, Sussex, Engl and her baptism took place on January 9th, 1799 in Heathfield, Sussex, Eng. Sarah's father was THOMAS HOAD and her mother is Sarah GASSON. Her paternal grandparents were John HOAD and Susanna MANSIR OR MANSER; her maternal grandfather was James GASSON and her maternal grandmother is Mary HARBEY OR HARVEY. She had five brothers and six sisters, named THOMAS, Henry, David, James, Joshua, Martha, Ruth, Mary, Vinor, Hannah and Eliza. She was the second oldest of the twelve children.
