JOAN was born in 1242 in SHERE, SURREY, ENGLAND.1 JOAN's father was JOHN FITZGEOFFREY and her mother was ISABEL BIGOD. Her paternal grandparents were GEOFFREY FITZPIERS and AVELINE De CLARE; her maternal grandparents were HUGH BIGOD and Maud Marshall. She had two brothers and two sisters, named RICHARD, JOHN, AVELINA and ISABEL. She was the third oldest of the five children. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named WALTER, MARGARET (MARGERY), MAUD (MATILDA) and Maud. She died at the age of 61 on May 26th, 1303.1 General Notes
