GILBERT 'THE RED' was born on September 2nd, 1243 in CHRISTCURCH, HAMPSHIRE, ENGLAND.1   GILBERT 'THE RED''s father was RICHARD De CLARE and his mother was MAUD De LACY.  His paternal grandparents were GILBERT De CLARE and ISABELLE MARSHALL; his maternal grandparents were JOHN De LACY and MARGARET De QUINCY. He had four brothers and three sisters, named THOMAS, BOGO, EGLENTINA, ROBERT, ISABELLE, MARGARET and ROHESE AGNES.  He died at the age of 52 on December 7th, 1295 in MONMOUTH CASTLE, WALES.  He was buried in TEWSBURY ABBEY, GLOUCESTER, ENGLAND.1 1
