Ralf de was born about 1097 in Norwich Castle,England. Ralf de's father was Ralf Le Breton de Gauder Montfort Wader Earl of Norfolk and his mother was Emma Fitz Osbern. His paternal grandparents were Ralf the Timid of East Angles Gael Earl of Hereford and Gytha de Hereford; his maternal grandparents were William de Crepon Fitz Osberne 1st Earl of Hereford and Adelina Adeliza Alice Toeni. He had a brother and a sister, named William de and Amice de. He is the second oldest of the three children.General Notes
Son of Ralf and Emma, who seems to be the progenitor of all Waites, spelled at various times: Waiet, Wate, Waight, Wayght, Wayt and Wayte. His direct lineal descendant is Ricardus Le Wayte, of the county Warwick, who was in 1315 Escheator of counties Berkshire, Wilts, Oxford, Bedford and Bucks. [Genealogical Sketch]
