Joan De was born about 1227 in Of, , Derbyshire, England.  Joan De's father was William de Ferrers 7 E Derby and her mother was Sibyl Marshall.  Her paternal grandparents were William de Ferrers Earl of Derby and Agnes De Meschines Lady of Chartley. She had a brother and five sisters, named John De, Maud (Matilda) De, Isabel de, Sibyl De, Agatha De and Eleanor De.  She was the third oldest of the seven children. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Robert, William de, Joan De, Elizabeth and Agnes De.  She died in October 1267.
