Joseph Stephen was born on November 16th, 1847 in Kanesville, Pottawattamie, Ia (Council Bluf. Joseph Stephen's father was Chester SOUTHWORTH II and his mother was Mary BYINGTON. His paternal grandparents were Chester SOUTHWORTH I and Zerviah CRANE OR CRAINE; his maternal grandparents were James BYINGTON and Susannah Nichols. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Robert Luther, Chester, Susannah Adaline, Sarah Zurviah, Mary Emily, Tamesin Ermine and Laura Salina. He was the second youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 77 on June 15th, 1925 in Mccammon, Bannock, ID. He was buried on June 17th, 1925 in Mccammon, Bannock, ID.General Notes
