Joseph was born in 1753 in , , Germany. Joseph's father was Henry RHOADS and his mother was Catherina RINEHART. His paternal grandparents were Christian ROTH and Catrina CABLE; his maternal grandfather is Ulrich RHINEHARDT. He had thirteen brothers and seven sisters, named Jacob, Joseph, Henry, Jacob, Solomon, John, Gabriel, Daniel, David, Jacob, John, Gabriel, Joseph, Susannah, Barbara, Catherine, Susannah, Barbara, Catherine II and Susannah. He was the eleventh oldest of the twenty-one children. He died at the age of 46 on November 28th, 1799 in , Muhlenberg, Kentucky.-
