Yolande was born about 1173 in , , , Hainault.  Yolande's father was Baldwin V Of Hainault Count and her mother was Margaret Of Flanders Heiress.  Her paternal grandparents were Baldwin IV Of Hainault Count and Adelaide De Namur; her maternal grandparents were Dietrich II Of Flanders Count and Sibyl (Sibille) Of Anjou. She had a brother and two sisters, named Baldwin VI, Sibyl and Isabella.  She was the youngest of the four children.  She died in August 1219 in Constantinople, , , Byzantium.  She was buried in 1219.

‌Yolande and Peter II were married in a religious ceremony on June 24th, 1193 in Soissons, , France.  They had a son and three daughters, named Baudouin II, Marguerite, Alineor and Yolande.
