James I was born on February 1st, 1213 in Montpelier, Lanquedoc, , France. James I's father was Pedro II Of Aragon King and his mother was Marie De Montpellier Dame. His paternal grandparents were Alfonso II Of Aragon King and Sancha (Sanchia) Of Castile Princess; his maternal grandfather is William VIII De Montpellier Seigneur and his maternal grandmother was Marie Eudoxia Comnena.
