Benjamin was born on September 20th, 1854 in St. Joseph, , MO. Benjamin's father was Thomas Herbert MC BRIDE and his mother was Harriet Susan SAMPSON. His paternal grandfather was Amos Evans MC BRIDE and his paternal grandmother is Hannah JOHNSON; his maternal grandfather was Benjamin SAMPSON and his maternal grandmother is Elizabeth NEFF. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Joseph Miles, Harry, Adriann, Mary Emma and Jessie Ann. He is the second oldest of the six children. He has a half-brother named William Henry Harrison.-
