John was born about 1590 in Of, Derby, Derbyshire, England. John's father was William CLAYTON and his mother is Elizabeth RIGBYE. His paternal grandparents were Thomas CLAYTON and Anne Jackson; his maternal grandparents are Nicholas RIGBYE and Mrs-Nicholas RIGBYE. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, William, Raphe, Richard, Ann, Mary and Alice. He was the third oldest of the eight children. He died about 1673.-
