Alice de Lusignan was born about 1224 in Lusigan, Vienne, France.  Alice de Lusignan's father was Hugh X Lusignan le Brun de la Marche and her mother was Isabella de Taillefer of Angouleme.  Her paternal grandfather was Hugh IX de Lusignan de la Marche; her maternal grandparents were Aymer Taillefer de Valence of Angouleme and Alice de Courtenay. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Hugh XI Lusignan, Guy, Geoffrey of Jarnac, Henry, Aymer, William, Maud, Agatha de Lusignan, Margaret and Isabella. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Henry III Plantagenet of, Richard of, Joan (Gwenllian) Plantagenet of, Isabella (Elizabeth) of and Eleanor (Nell) Plantagenet of.

‌Alice de Lusignan and John were married in a religious ceremony in August 1247.  They had a son and two daughters, named William, Eleanor Plantagenet and Isabel.
