Adeliza (Alice) was born about 1080 in Tunbridge, Kent, England.  Adeliza (Alice)'s father was Gilbert FitzRichard Mareschall de Clare and her mother was Adeliza de Clermont.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard FitzGilbert de Clare and Rohese Giffard; her maternal grandparents were Hugh de Creil of Clermont and Marguerite de Roucy de Montdidier. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Richard FitzGilbert, Gilbert Strongbow FitzGilbert, Baldwin FitzGilbert, John FitzGilbert the, Margaret, Rohese and Agnes. She had a half-brother named Hervey.  She died in 1163 in St. Osyth's Priory.
