William IV of was born in 1040 in Toulouse, Aquitaine, France.  William IV of's father was Pons III of Toulouse and his mother was Almodis de la Haute Marche.  His paternal grandfather was William III Taillefer of Toulouse and his paternal grandmother is Emma of Provence; his maternal grandfather was Bernard I de la Marche and his maternal grandmother is Amelia de Montignac de Aulnay. He had a brother and a sister, named Raymond IV of and Almode of.  He was the oldest of the three children. He had two half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Hugh VI le Diable, Raymond III Towhead, Inez Berengar, Sanca Berengar, Stephanie (Etiennette), Avice and Pancia.  He died at the age of 54 in 1094 in Battle of Huesca, Huesca, Spain.
