Henry H. was born in April 1863 in Waldo, Livingston County, Illinois. Henry H.'s father was William Sutton and his mother was Winifred Catlett. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Sutton and Margaret Critton. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Charles W., Joseph Randolph, James O., Olive Anne and Frances.
