Olaf the Red Cuaran's father was Sitric II Caoch (Sigtryggr) of Dublin & York and his mother was Edith of England.  His paternal grandfather was Sitric I Halfdansson of Dublin; his maternal grandparents were Edward the Elder of England and Ecgwyn of Neatherd. He had three brothers and a sister, named Harald Sitricsson of, Amlaib, Gofraid and Gyda Sitricsdatter of.  He died in 0981 in Iona.
