Salathiel S. was born in April 1838 in Kanawha County, West Virginia. Salathiel S.'s father was David W. Shaver and his mother was UNKNOWN Christina. His paternal grandparents were George Shaver and Marie Elizabeth. He had three brothers and two sisters, named George W., John S., David W. Jr., Susan and Christina. He was the oldest of the six children. He died after 1853.-
