Angnus' father was John David Shaver and his mother was Mary Parsons. His paternal grandparents were Paul Shaver and Catherine Riffle. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Paul, John D., Henry S., Henderson, Susannah, Mary Catherine, Sarah Jane and Sidney. He had five half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Edward, Perry G., Frank, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel L., Malinda, Agnes, Martha, Margaret Lydia and Louisa.-
