Albert H. was born in August 1879 in Kanawha County, West Virginia. Albert H.'s father was Martin Henry Shaver and his mother was Mary Ann Horner. His paternal grandparents were Henry S. Shaver and Rebecca Steed Neslrod Barnhart. He has four brothers and six sisters, named Henry H., Morton J., Lawrence, William R., Rebecca J., Laura, Nelia, Lucille, Maude E. and Margarte E.. He is the oldest of the eleven children.-
