Ethel Gertrude's father was John Henry Lowance and her mother was Mary Catherine Shaver. Her maternal grandparents were George Washington Shaver and Lucinda Judy. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named George Mason, Elbert Early, Homer Lewis, John Henry Jr., Thomas Clayton, Charles Edward, Samuel Walter, Bessie Susan, Mary Edith, Ollie Maye and Lucinda. She died after 1921.-
