Margaret was born in 1736 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Margaret's father was John Jr. Hiatt and her mother was Rachel Margaret Wilson. Her paternal grandparents were John Hiatt and Mary Lois Smith; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Wilson and UNKNOWN Rachel. She had eight brothers and four sisters, named George, John, Joseph, William, Evan, James, Jonathan, Timothy, Catherine, Margaret, Mary and Ann. She had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Evan, James, Jonathan, Timothy, Martha, Sarah, Ruth and Phebe.-
